Guardian - London Plane Tree of Ely
The London Plane Tree of Ely. A feeling of mystery or even reverence, as if the tree is a sacred entity in this tranquil, dreamlike setting. The gradient of light, brings a sense of hope or resilience, showing that even in shadow or obscurity, life and growth persist...
My original oil of the great London Plane Tree of Ely. I painted this on location in the grounds of Kings Ely school where the tree lives. The event in August 2024 was organised by David Day (Chair of the Board of Governors) and it was supported by The Woodland Trust, The Tree Council and the Aboricultural Association.
I painted this tree to raise money for the conservation fund for the tree itself. I am donating 20% of the sale of this painting to the fund.
