Do You Think That All That Glitters is Gold?

Do You Think That All That Glitters is Gold?

In the 1920's people fell in love with the shiny yellow metal. The famous Gatsby symbol has its origins in the ancient Egyptian 1922 discovery by Howard Carter of Tutankhamun's nearly intact tomb, in excavations funded by Lord Carnarvon. Over 5,000 artefacts were recovered and this sparked a renewed public interest in ancient Egypt.

Lord Carnarvon's country house, Highclere Castle, serves as the exterior and upstairs filming location of the ITV/PBS television series Downton Abbey. The below-stairs scenes were filmed on a set in London, as Highclere's basement is the home of Carnarvon's Egyptian collection.
Ancient Egypt fascinates me with its tales of curses and books that have powers to unleash plagues.

"The easiest way to introduce gold into a contemporary space is through a piece of artwork or a strong print. Alternatively, you can opt for something more minimal, such as a gold tap- already one of 2021’s biggest bathroom ideas."

My Evangelina collection explores a magical secret from ancient Egypt. Subscribers to my VIP list get to meet the new pieces first and they also get exclusive offers on my art. I LOVE to add a magical twist to each piece. The Evangelina collection is all around an emerald book that she was given in a library. It had a hand written note inside and she is on a quest to find the person who wrote it and discover the secrets inside.

In my new pieces, based around a cocktail party, Evangelina meets people that can help her understand the book. They already know you see because they are already part of the secret society. By day, it is hidden in plain sight but by night...magic is revealed!
