Do Something Unexpected...

Every so often I send a letter to someone that I have not seen in a while or maybe not talked with for months...you know how life moves so fast. The excitement of receiving that hand written letter re-ignites the magical connection you have.

Claire Valentine Artist

The Artist Who Paints Magic and Protects Nature

Claire was born in a small town in the UK in 1977. A studious, quiet and introverted person, Claire escaped into her own world of creating art. Torn between two careers, she chose to follow a scientific path and graduated with an honour’s degree in science in 2000.

Claire Valentine-Gibson, who paints under her maiden name of Claire Valentine, is an artist, scientist, and proud Pagan whose life is infused with the enchantment of Harry Potter, a deep love for nature, and a passion for helping wildlife. Armed with her wand, cauldron, and chalice, Claire’s world is a harmonious blend of spell work, potion-making, and the serene magic she finds in the natural world.

As a dedicated member of the Wildlife Trust, Claire channels her creativity to support causes close to her heart, including the Owl Experience Rescue Sanctuary in Haughton, Staffordshire. Her artwork plays a crucial role in raising awareness and funds for wildlife. "Following a Pagan path resonates deeply with me,” Claire explains. “It links my passion for nature with the excitement of spell work, wand lore, potion making, and manifestation.”

Claire’s artistic style is nothing short of spellbinding. She conjures dramatic, ethereal pieces that transport viewers into mystical woodlands, introduce them to mythical deities, and bring forth spirit guardian animals. Her works embody the tranquillity and magic she discovers in the natural world, leaving an indelible impression of wonder and serenity.

A lifelong Harry Potter fan, Claire is fascinated by the idea of a school where one could truly learn potion-making, spell-casting, and the care of magical creatures. “The world of Harry Potter consumes me,” she says. “The thought of it being real is endlessly exciting.” This deep love for magic and fantasy inspires much of her work, infusing it with both whimsical charm and profound meaning.

In addition to painting, Claire sculpts enchanting creations using recycled, upcycled, and found materials, breathing new life into what others might discard. Her sculptures are quirky and mysterious, as though imbued with a life of their own. “One collector told me his griffin sculpture actually moved on its own overnight and was facing another one, like they were deep in conversation!”

Claire’s scientific background also informs her art. With a Master of Science degree and a love of chemistry and biology, she often imagines herself as a medieval alchemist, transforming simple ingredients into magical creations. For her, making art is akin to crafting a spell, bringing an idea into reality with imagination and a touch of magic.

Despite her bold and mysterious art, Claire is a gentle and introspective person. She finds solace walking in the woods, accompanied by her cat, or listening to classical music in the quiet of her studio. “For in the silence,” she reflects, “magic happens.”

Claire’s work is more than art; it’s an invitation to step into a magical realm, to honour nature, and to believe in the extraordinary. Whether painting spellbinding forests or sculpting mythical creatures, Claire’s mission remains the same: to awaken a sense of wonder, protect the natural world, and show that magic exists all around us.
